There are approximately 127 million adults in the United Stated that are overweight. The tendency towards obesity comes from our environment. It comes from the lack of physical activity combined with high calorie, low cost foods. Depending upon one’s metabolism, one can become obese more easily than others. The saying,”What you don’t know can’t hurt you,” greatly contradicts the problem with the knowledge of metabolisms. Because metabolisms are different from person to person, people must know what their personal need for energy is. In this case, not knowing your personal needs can hurt your health status. I have found most of the info i need. My research question is really good because i can find all the info I need.It's very easy to find websites on metabolims. That topic is widely known, and there's lot of consitant info. Now all I have to do is put it together into a paper. The part that is hard is deciding on my primary resource. I have had the most trouble with finding all the info on a website to put into the cite machine. Sometimes I can only find the url and the article title. The process for this research paper is really organized. I like how we are taking it step by step. the blog helps me stay organized and keep up with my cites and resources. I can just go to my blog and click on the links and be at the websites I need.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Because i have stayed with the same question the entire time, i have had enough time to do the research I need. I wish we could spent more time planning what to do with our primary resource. All organisms conduct both phases constantly. Hormones control both the rate and direction of metabolism. For example, thyroxine, a hormone secreted by the thyroid gland, plays a key role in determining the rate of metabolism. The body conducts more anabolic than catabolic activities after a meal. Eating increases the level of glucose in the blood. When the level of glucose is low—for example, when a person is fasting—the pancreas releases the hormone glucagon. Um.. my topic is metabolism and how it can be effected. I need to first start with finding basic info on what the definition of a metabolism is. I also need to find what an average metabolism speed is. How can you speed your metabolism up? what slows it down?  Is obesity caused by slow metabolisms. I also want to know how you can test the speed of your own metabolism. Do doctorws have to hook you up to a machine? Do they draw blood? Do they watch your daily patterns? Can they do a simple test? How can it be found? &lt;br /&gt;I'll start with looking the basics up on the internet. then ill look in my dads medical books for more info. maybe he'll even know about it. I could always interview a local doctor if my dad doen't know. I bet there is some info in an encyclopidia. Of course ill probably find most of my info by internet.
